Well, I reckon you might’ve heard of this fella named Dylan Rau. He’s the lead singer and guitar player for a band called Bear Hands. Now, these folks ain’t no strangers to the music world. They’ve been around for a good while, and let me tell ya, they sure know how to stir up some noise. Dylan, he ain’t just any ol’ musician; he’s the heart and soul of that band. From the way they play to the words they sing, it all comes from him. Been doin’ it for years, and still keepin’ at it!
Now, Bear Hands ain’t just some regular rock band. They’ve got a sound all their own, mixin’ post-punk and indie rock with a dash of somethin’ else. It’s like if you took the old rock ‘n’ roll spirit and gave it a new twist. They’re the kind of band you’d hear and immediately know, “Yep, that’s Bear Hands.” Dylan’s the one up there singin’, playin’ his guitar, and sometimes even gettin’ behind the keyboard. He’s what you’d call the frontman, always leadin’ the charge with his voice and his music.

Dylan and his bandmates, they’ve been through a lot. The band started back in 2006, when Dylan met his good ol’ friend Ted Feldman at college. Ted played guitar, and together they put together the beginnings of Bear Hands. Over the years, they picked up a few more folks along the way. Val Loper plays the bass, and TJ Orscher handles the drums. The lineup’s been steady for a good while now, and they’ve made quite a name for themselves.
The band’s first album, “Burning Bush Supper Club,” came out in 2010, and folks could tell right off that this was something special. Their sound was raw and real, just the way music’s supposed to be. After that, they released more albums, each one bringin’ somethin’ new to the table. Albums like “Distraction” in 2014, “You’ll Pay for This” in 2016, and “Fake Tunes” in 2019. All of ‘em had that same Bear Hands energy – rough, energetic, and always keepin’ ya on your toes.
But, as with many bands, life sometimes gets in the way. After “Fake Tunes,” Bear Hands took a little break. Dylan, bein’ the creative fella he is, moved out to the Oregon coast. Now, you’d think he’d slow down, but no sir, he kept workin’ on his music even when the world was in turmoil. I hear he was scribblin’ down songs and tryin’ out new ideas, all while enjoyin’ the peaceful life by the ocean.
Come 2024, and Bear Hands is back at it with new music. They’ve released a single called “Intrusive Thoughts,” and from what I hear, it’s just as good as anything they’ve done before. Dylan’s still puttin’ his heart and soul into his music, and the new tracks show that. You can tell from the way he writes his lyrics that he ain’t one to hide behind fancy words. He’s honest, sometimes a little raw, but that’s what makes his music stand out. When Dylan sings, you can feel every bit of emotion he’s pourin’ into it.
But I reckon it ain’t just the music that draws folks in. It’s the whole vibe of Bear Hands. They’ve been doin’ this long enough that they’ve figured out their own sound and style. They’re a bit unconventional, a bit rebellious, but that’s the beauty of it. Dylan Rau, with his honest lyrics and unique way of lookin’ at the world, has built himself quite a reputation. Whether it’s on stage or in the studio, he’s always lookin’ to push the boundaries and try somethin’ new.
When you listen to Bear Hands, you’re not just hearin’ songs. You’re hearin’ stories. You’re hearin’ the ups and downs of life, the struggles, the joys, and all the little things in between. Dylan and his bandmates have a way of takin’ the ordinary and turnin’ it into somethin’ extraordinary. They’ve been through thick and thin, and their music reflects that journey.

So, if you haven’t given them a listen yet, well, I’d say it’s high time you do. Bear Hands is back, and they’ve got new tunes to share. And trust me, you won’t regret takin’ a listen. Dylan Rau’s got a way of capturin’ your attention and keepin’ you hooked. Whether you’re a long-time fan or a newcomer, Bear Hands is sure to have somethin’ that’ll speak to you.
