Alright, let’s talk about this 1 mm actuation keyboard thing, or whatever they call it. Sounds fancy, but is it any good? I ain’t no spring chicken, so I need things simple and easy to use, ya hear?
What’s this “actuation” talk anyway?

From what I gather, it’s about how far you gotta push a key before it, you know, does somethin’. Like, on an old typewriter, you really had to smack those keys. These new keyboards, they say you barely gotta touch ’em. This 1 mm thing, that means the key works after just a tiny little push. Seems awful sensitive to me, like one of them jumpy cats.
Is it good for typin’ or just playin’ games?
Well, they say it’s good for games, makes you real fast. But for typin’, I dunno. I type like a regular person, not like those young whippersnappers tap-tap-tappin’ away. I need to feel the keys a bit, or I’ll make a mess of things. All them typos, and then you gotta backspace, and it just takes longer. Seems like a recipe for trouble if you ask me.
- Fast for games? Maybe. But I ain’t no gamer. My grandkid plays them computer games all day. He might like this kind of keyboard.
- Good for typin’? I’m not so sure. I need to feel the keys.
- Easy to use? Maybe for young folks, but us old timers might need something more… substantial.
Faster ain’t always better, you know.
They keep talkin’ about speed, speed, speed. But what about accuracy? What about not pressin’ the wrong key by accident? If these keys are so sensitive, seems like you’d be hittin’ all sorts of wrong letters all the time. Then you gotta go back and fix it, and that just slows you down. It’s like tryin’ to catch a greased pig – quick, but hard to control.
What about them “settings” folks keep jabberin’ about?
Now, some folks say you can adjust these keyboards. Make the keys need more of a push, or less of a push. Per-key somethin’-or-other. Sounds complicated. I just want a keyboard that works, not somethin’ I gotta fiddle with all the time. I ain’t got time for that nonsense. I got chores to do, supper to cook. I don’t need a keyboard that needs a manual the size of a phone book.
Accidental key presses – a real pain.
This is what worries me the most. With these sensitive keys, seems like you could sneeze and type a whole bunch of gibberish. Or just rest your fingers on the keys and BAM, you got a page full of nothin’. That’d be a real mess. I like a keyboard where I know I pressed a key on purpose, not just because the wind blew or somethin’.
Longer key travel – that makes sense to me.
I heard someone talkin’ about longer key travel. That means the key goes down further when you press it. That makes sense to me. You feel it, you know? You know you pressed the key good and hard. This 1 mm business, sounds like you barely touch it and it goes off. Too jumpy for my likin’.
So, who’s this 1 mm keyboard for?

I guess it’s for them young folks who play them fast-paced games. Or maybe for people who type real fancy and fast. But for regular folks like me, who just need to type a letter or send an email, I think a regular keyboard is just fine. Don’t fix what ain’t broke, that’s what I always say.
Maybe I’m just old fashioned…
Maybe I’m just set in my ways. But I like things that work, things that are reliable. This 1 mm actuation keyboard sounds a bit too fancy and fiddly for me. I’ll stick to my old clunker, thank you very much. At least I know where I stand with that one. It ain’t pretty, but it gets the job done. And that’s all that matters, ain’t it?
In the end, it’s all about what you’re used to.
If you’re used to these sensitive keyboards, maybe you’ll like ’em. But if you’re like me, and you like a little more… oomph in your typing, then maybe you’ll stick to the old-fashioned kind. It’s all a matter of preference, I suppose. But me? I’ll stick with what I know. No need for fancy new gadgets when the old ones work just fine.
Keyboards, keyboards… Too many choices if you ask me.

They got all sorts of keyboards these days. Light up ones, clicky ones, quiet ones, and now these 1 mm ones. It’s enough to make your head spin. Back in my day, you had one choice, and that was that. And you know what? We got along just fine. Sometimes I think all these choices just make things more complicated.
Maybe I’ll try it, maybe I won’t.
I ain’t sayin’ these 1 mm keyboards are bad. Maybe they’re great. But for now, I’ll stick with what I know. Maybe if I see one on sale, or if my grandkid gets one, I’ll give it a try. But I ain’t holdin’ my breath. I got more important things to worry about than how far a keyboard key travels.
