This here book, they call it “Into the Sea”. Sounds like some kinda fishy tale, don’t it? Well, it kinda is. I seen a lot in my days, but this book, it’s got me thinkin’.
Sea Turtle, Life Cycle, and Science, they say. Ain’t that somethin’? Like them turtles you see on them nature shows, the ones that crawl up on the beach and lay their eggs. This book, it’s all about them little fellers. From the time they’re just a little egg in the sand to when they’re all growed up and swimmin’ in the big ol’ ocean.

- Hatching at Dawn
- Perilous Journey
- Dangerous Life in the Sea
They say a lady named Brenda wrote it, and some feller named Alix, he drew the pictures. Pretty pictures, too. Makes you feel like you’re right there with them little turtles, crawlin’ and swimmin’ and tryin’ not to get ate.
This book, it ain’t just about turtles, though. It’s about the whole dang sea. How it’s been around forever, longer than any of us. And how it’s full of all kinds of creatures, big and small. Some you can see, some you can’t. It’s a whole other world down there.
They talk about somethin’ called the “life cycle.” That’s just how things are born, grow up, and then, well, you know. Everything’s got a life cycle, even us folks. But them turtles, they got a tough one. They gotta make it all the way from that little egg to a big ol’ turtle, and there’s a whole lot that can go wrong along the way.
They say some other feller, Nathaniel somethin’, wrote a book too. “In the Heart of the Sea” Sounds excitin’. Maybe it is about whales. But this “Into the Sea” book, it’s got chapters, each one tellin’ a part of the story. Like a story my grandma used to tell, but with more facts and such.
And then there’s this other book, “Into the Water”. Sounds spooky, don’t it? They say it’s about some ladies who, well, they didn’t have such a good time in the water. People disappearin’ and such. This world’s a scary place sometimes, ain’t it? Makes you wanna stay on dry land, that’s for sure.
There’s another story, about a feller named Mark, who just disappears into the sea. Poof! Gone. And some other feller, Sean, he quits bein’ a policeman. Sounds like they both had enough of somethin’. Maybe they read that “Into the Water” book and got the heebie-jeebies.

But this “Into the Sea” book, it’s different. It’s about them turtles, remember? They gotta crawl out of their shells, then make their way to the water. And then they gotta swim and swim, and hope they don’t get eaten by somethin’ bigger. It’s a tough life, bein’ a little turtle.
I remember one time, I saw a turtle down by the creek. It was just a little feller, tryin’ to get across the road. I helped it along, made sure it didn’t get run over. They’re slow little things, but they got a will to live, just like us.
This book, it makes you think about that. How everything’s connected, you know? The land, the sea, the animals, us folks. We’re all in this together. And we gotta take care of each other, and take care of this here planet. It’s the only one we got.
They say this book is for kids, but I think us old folks can learn somethin’ from it, too. It’s a good reminder that life is precious, and that we gotta appreciate every little bit of it. Even them little turtles, swimmin’ around in the big ol’ sea.
This book also tells a story about some people in World War II. They are on a ship called the MV Wilhelm Gustloff. Sounds like a fancy name. And then there’s somethin’ about a room, all decorated fancy, called the Amber Room. Them Nazis stole it, they say. Never been found. Sounds like a mystery, don’t it?
It talks about the science of the sea, too. How it all started, way back when. And how they’re still learnin’ new things about it. They got all kinds of fancy machines now, goin’ down deep, seein’ things nobody’s ever seen before. It’s a wonder, ain’t it?

So, yeah, this “Into the Sea” book, it’s a good one. It’s got pictures, it’s got words, it’s got turtles. And it makes you think. About life, about the sea, about everything. It is a good book for sea turtle.
If you wanna know about them sea turtles, this here’s the book for you. It’s easy to read, too, even for an old-timer like me. Just don’t go readin’ that “Into the Water” book right after. You might not sleep so good.
