Ok, so, a few days ago, I saw this e-bike online, the Hummer EV AWD Recon eBike. Man, that thing looked cool! I’ve been thinking about getting an e-bike for a while now, just to ride around town, you know, maybe get some exercise, and avoid using the car for short trips. So I started digging.
First thing I checked was the price. Ouch! Nearly 4,000 dollars for a bicycle! That’s a lot of money. But, as I learned more about it, it seemed to be packed with features, not just your average bike with a motor slapped on. Also, it looks like the real deal, the GMC Hummer EV Pickup, can cost way more, like up to 100,000 dollars, depending on what you get. That’s insane! I also heard that delivery of those super AWD bikes powered by RECON started in January 2023. It must be really popular!

Then, I started looking at other e-bikes, just to compare. I found some online for around 12,000 to 14,000, even some for kids at 13,925. And one super cheap one for just 35, although I’m not sure what currency that was. These were mostly foldable ones, 48v, 4 batteries, looked pretty standard.
After seeing those prices, the Hummer bike didn’t seem so crazy expensive anymore. I mean, it’s still a lot, but it’s not like those other bikes are dirt cheap either. Plus, it’s got that rugged Hummer look, and it’s supposed to be super powerful with all-wheel drive.
My Decision Process
- Checked the price: Saw it was almost 4,000 dollars, which made me flinch a bit.
- Compared it to the real Hummer EV Pickup: Realized the car is super expensive, so the bike price felt a bit more reasonable in comparison, maybe.
- Looked at other e-bikes: Found some cheaper options, but they didn’t seem as cool or powerful.
- Considered the features: The all-wheel drive, the design, it all started to seem worth the money.
So, I’m still on the fence. I need to think about it some more. But, this whole process of researching and comparing has been pretty interesting. I’ll probably sleep on it and see how I feel tomorrow. Maybe I’ll even go to a local bike shop and test ride a few different models, just to get a better feel for what’s out there. I am pretty excited though, I have to say.
