Beveled Shears Usually Have What Type of Blades?

Posted on 12/02/202512/02/2025 by NewsNomad

Okay, so I was messing around with some different hair-cutting tools the other day, and I got curious about beveled shears. I mean, what even is a beveled edge, right? So, I did a little digging and experimenting. Here’s the lowdown.

First, I grabbed a pair of beveled shears from my kit. I’d used them before, but I never really paid close attention to the blades. When you look closely, you notice something kinda cool.

Beveled Shears Usually Have What Type of Blades?

What I Found Out

Instead of being totally smooth, like regular scissors, the blades had these tiny, tiny little teeth. They’re so small, you almost can’t see them, but you can definitely feel them if you run your finger along the edge (carefully, of course!). Some are call serrated and some are micro-serrated,I think there is not much diffrent.

I tested them out on some spare hair extensions I had lying around. It’s pretty obvious why these are good for certain things.

  • Blunt Cuts: These shears are awesome for making those super straight, clean lines. The little teeth really grab the hair and keep it from sliding around, so you get a precise cut. Perfect for that blunt bob look.
  • Thick Hair? No Problem: I tried them on some really thick, coarse hair extensions, and they sliced right through. My regular shears sometimes struggle with that.
  • Less Sharpening: The guy at the beauty supply store told me these don’t need to be sharpened as often. Makes sense, since those little teeth are doing a lot of the work. Saves me some hassle!

So, basically, beveled shears aren’t your everyday scissors. They’ve got those special, almost-invisible teeth on the blades that make them perfect for certain haircuts and hair types. I’m definitely going to be using these more often, especially when I need a super precise, blunt cut. I feel like I’ve leveled up my hair-cutting game!
