Okay, so I saw this “multiversus tournament 2024” thing popping up and thought, “Hey, I used to be decent at Smash, maybe I can hang.” Turns out, Multiversus is way different, but it got me hooked! Here’s how my whole experience went down.
First Steps: Downloading and Panicking
First thing I did was download the game. It’s free, so that’s a plus, right? Then came the character selection… oh boy. So many choices! I vaguely remembered seeing some tier lists online, but decided to ignore them and just pick who looked cool.

I went with Bugs Bunny because, well, he’s Bugs Bunny. I figured a cartoon rabbit couldn’t be that hard to learn, right? Wrong. So, so wrong.
Getting My Butt Kicked (Repeatedly)
I jumped straight into online matches. Big mistake. HUGE mistake. I got absolutely demolished. Like, not even close. People were flying around, doing all these crazy combos, and I was just mashing buttons hoping for the best. It was rough. I think I lost like ten matches in a row. It was like watching a pro tennis match, and me having never seen a racket before.
Back to Basics: Tutorials and Training Mode
After that brutal beatdown, I realized I needed to, you know, actually learn the game. So, I swallowed my pride and hit up the tutorial mode. It covered the basics, like moving, attacking, dodging, and the special moves. It was helpful, but felt like just scratching the surface.
Then I spent a good chunk of time in the training mode. This is where I really started to figure things out. I practiced combos, tried out different characters (Shaggy is surprisingly strong!), and experimented with different strategies. It was still tough, but I could feel myself slowly getting better.
Finding My Groove (and My Main)
After a few days of practice, I felt brave enough to try online matches again. I still lost a lot, but I was starting to win some too! I even had a few close matches that came down to the wire. It felt good to finally see some progress. I even experimented with more than Bugs.
- Tried Shaggy: Super powerful, lot of fun launching people.
- Played some Wonder Woman: Felt more my speed with the sword and shield.
- Even gave Garnet a go: Her singing attacks are pretty cool.
I eventually settled on Wonder Woman as my main. Her moveset just clicked with me, and I felt like I could actually compete with her.

The “Tournament” Dream (Shattered, but Fun)
Now, about that “tournament”… let’s just say I didn’t exactly qualify for any official events. I watched some streams of the pro players, and they were on a whole other level. But I did find some smaller, community-run tournaments online. I signed up, got my butt kicked (again!), but had a blast doing it. It was fun to be part of something, even if I wasn’t winning any prize money.
So, that’s my Multiversus journey so far. From total noob to slightly-less-of-a-noob. Still a long way to go, but I’m having fun learning and getting better. Maybe one day I’ll actually be good enough for a real tournament. But for now, I’m happy just smashing buttons and occasionally winning a match or two.
