Okay, folks, let’s talk about something a little personal, but hey, it’s real life, right? I’m talking about, ahem, lubrication for, well, you know… intercourse. I recently went down this rabbit hole, and let me tell you, it was a journey.
It all started because, let’s just say, things weren’t as “smooth sailing” as they used to be. I’m not getting any younger, and neither is my partner. Dryness happens, it’s natural. So, I decided to do something about it.

First, I tried just using some regular hand lotion I had lying around. Big mistake. Huge mistake. It burned! Not a good start. I quickly washed that off, feeling pretty defeated. I learned a valuable lesson: not all lotions are created equal. Don’t be dumb like me. Really research it.
Next, I started to do some, uh, “research.” I asked my partner for some input. We talked about it, a lot. Open communication, people, it’s key! It’s very necessary, don’t be shy about talking about what you do and don’t like!
Then, I went online. I started, very basically, looking around for some recommendations.
I started looking at stuff specifically designed for, you know, down there. I was overwhelmed! There were so many options! Water-based, silicone-based, oil-based… Warming, tingling… It was a lot to take in.
- Water-based: Seemed like the safest bet, easy to clean up, they said.
- Silicone-based: Supposedly longer-lasting, but maybe not great with, uh, certain toys.
- Oil-based: Sounded messy, and definitely not good with condoms. Nope.
I narrowed it down to a couple of water-based options. Then, the real fun began: trying them out. We, uh, experimented. A lot. It was… educational.
Some were too sticky. Some felt weird. Some just didn’t seem to do much. It was a process of trial and error, and honestly, a little frustrating at times.

Finally, we found one that worked. It was water-based, unscented, and just… right. It felt natural, didn’t irritate anything, and, most importantly, it made things much more comfortable and enjoyable.
The Results?
Success! We finally figured out what worked for us. It took some time, some awkward conversations, and a few, shall we say, less-than-stellar experiences, but we got there. Now, things are, let’s just say, back on track. And that’s all that matters, right?
