Okay, so I decided to check out the food scene in Wendell, Idaho. I’d heard some mixed things, you know, small town, not a ton of options, but I was curious.
Getting Started
First, I hit up the internet, doing some basic searches. I looked at a few online menus, nothing too fancy. Mostly diners and some standard American fare. I was hoping for something, I don’t know, unique? But hey, I’m all about exploring.

The Experience
I drove around Wendell. It’s a pretty small place, so it didn’t take long to see what was available. I spotted a few local diners, a couple of fast-food joints, and one place that looked like it might be a bit more upscale. I also noticed a small Mexican restaurant. I made a mental note of a few places that seemed promising, based mostly on which parking lots had cars in them.
- The first place I tried was this little diner. Super classic, you know? Burgers, fries, milkshakes. The food was… okay. It was good, solid, but nothing that really blew me away. Friendly service, though!
- Next, I stopped by that Mexican restaurant. I got some tacos. Again, pretty good, but not the best I’ve ever had. It felt very family-run, which I liked.
- There was this other place, seemed like it might be a bit more of a sit-down, dinner kind of spot. I didn’t go in, felt a little too fancy for what I wanted that day.
My Thoughts
So, my overall impression of the food in Wendell? It’s pretty much what you’d expect from a small Idaho town. There’s nothing wrong with it, at all. If you’re looking for basic, comforting food, you’ll find it. But if you’re searching for something super unique or a real culinary adventure, it might not be the place. It is great if you want some good old-fashioned, filling grub.
I think next time I’m in the area, I might try that fancier place, just to see what it’s like. Or maybe I’ll pack a picnic – the scenery around Wendell is really pretty, so that could be a nice option, too!
