Okay, so I was trying to solve this crossword puzzle the other day, and I got totally stuck on this one clue: “Trojan War Story.” I stared at it for like, 20 minutes. Nothing. Blank.
So, I started brainstorming. What do I even know about the Trojan War? Well, I know it involved the Greeks, the Trojans, and a big wooden horse. That was my starting point.

Trying to Remember High School
I vaguely remembered reading something about it in high school, you know, some epic poem. Was it “The Odyssey?” Or something else? I couldn’t quite put my finger on it. I was thinking, maybe the answer is a character’s name? Like “Achilles” or “Helen?” But the spaces didn’t seem to fit.
Going Down the Rabbit Hole
I even tried just listing out everything I could think of related to the Trojan War:
- Helen of Troy
- Paris
- Achilles
- The Trojan Horse
- Greece
- Troy
Still, no lightbulb moment. I kept going back to that wooden horse… It’s such a big part of the story, but “Trojan Horse” obviously wasn’t the answer. It was driving me nuts!
The “Aha!” Moment
Then, I started thinking about the story itself. It’s not just about the war; it’s a really long, epic poem. And then it hit me! It was “The Iliad“! That had to be it! the number of letters fit perfictly!.
I quickly filled in the letters, and yep, it fit perfectly! I felt so ridiculously proud of myself for finally cracking it. All that from just trying to remember some dusty old high school literature!
