Okay, so I’ve been obsessed with Baccarat Rouge 540 for, like, ever. But that price tag? Ouch. My wallet can’t handle that kind of commitment. So, I started digging around for a good dupe, and fragrance oils kept popping up. I figured, why not give it a shot? It’s way cheaper, and if it sucks, I’m not out a ton of money.
The Experiment Begins
First, I ordered a bunch of different Baccarat Rouge 540 fragrance oil dupes from a few different places. I wanted to see if there was a big difference between them. Some were super cheap, like a couple of bucks, and others were a bit pricier, maybe ten or fifteen dollars.
When they arrived, I did a sniff test of each one straight from the bottle. Some were way off. Like, not even close. Others were kind of in the ballpark, but still missing that special something.
- The cheap ones? Mostly smelled like straight-up chemicals. Not a good start.
- The mid-range ones were better, with the amberwood more pronounced.
Then, I got to experimenting. Cause its oil,I picked my wrist and did a test, only a little drop, cause this thing is strong.
The Results
I found that one of the mid-priced oils was actually pretty darn close! It had that same sweet, airy, almost cotton-candy vibe, with a bit of that woody, ambery thing going on. It wasn’t exactly the same, but honestly, for the price difference, I was super impressed.
The scent lasted a decent amount of time, too. I’d say a good four or five hours, which is pretty good for a fragrance oil.
Overall, it was fun experiment, and now I don’t feel sad any more for not having that expensive bottle.
