Okay, so, I needed some new linear switches for my keyboard. I’m not made of money, so I was really hunting for the best bang for my buck. I looked at a bunch of different models, from the basic ones you use at home to the super-secure, fancy ones.
I started my quest by looking for deals online, because, well, who doesn’t love a good bargain? Coupons, discounts, promo codes, I dug through them all. I found some decent offers, but I knew I could do better. If I learned something is “Don’t rush, take your time”.

My Adventure
- Hitting up forums and communities: I spent hours on forums reading what other keyboard geeks had to say. Some folks recommended getting switches with a rated durability, especially since I type a lot. I guess that makes sense, you know? You want your gear to last. One name that kept popping up was Kailh. People were raving about their Box Jade switches, but those are clicky, and I wanted linear.
- Digging into specs: I started looking at the technical details. Things like total travel distance. I saw some that had a 4-millimeter travel, which seemed pretty standard. Also looked into terms like “Gigabit Ethernet”, and “Computer port”. Seemed important but I don’t understand them at all.
- Comparing prices: Man, the price range on these things is wild! I found some super cheap options, but I was worried they’d feel like mush. Then there were the crazy expensive ones that probably only pro gamers or rich folks buy. I wanted something in the middle – good quality but won’t break my wallet.
- Asking for recommendations: I even asked some friends who are into mechanical keyboards for their opinion. One buddy told me to look into switches that can take both HDMI and USB data, but honestly, that’s a bit beyond my tech knowledge at the moment.
The Epiphany
After all that searching and comparing, I finally settled on a set of linear switches that I think are gonna be perfect. They weren’t the cheapest, but they also didn’t cost an arm and a leg. They feel pretty good, have decent travel, and are supposed to be durable. I’ll see how they hold up over time. Overall, I’m pretty happy with my decision. I learned a lot, and I think I found some awesome budget linear switches!
