Okay, so I’ve been hearing a lot about serum keratin treatments lately, and my hair has been feeling pretty dull and frizzy. I decided to give it a shot and see if it lived up to the hype. Here’s how it went down.
Prepping My Hair
First things first, I washed my hair. I used a clarifying shampoo to make sure I got rid of any product buildup. This is important, you want a really clean slate for the keratin to do its thing. No conditioner this time, just a good, thorough rinse.

Applying the Serum
Next, I towel-dried my hair. I needed it to be damp, not dripping wet. Then came the serum. I divided my hair into sections – like four or five – to make sure I got every single strand.
I poured a little bit of the serum into my hands(gloves on, of course!) and worked it through each section, starting from the roots and going all the way down to the ends. I made sure it’s even using comb.
Waiting Game
Now for the waiting. My particular serum said to leave it on for 30 minutes, so I just chilled and watched some videos. Some serums might have different times, so definitely read the instructions on yours!
Blow-Drying
Time to blow-dry! This is where it gets a little intense. I used a round brush to stretch each section of my hair as I dried it. The heat helps activate the keratin, so it’s a crucial step. It took a while, my hair is pretty thick, but I kept going until it was completely dry.
Straightening Time
Finally, I use the straightener. I set it to a medium-high heat (again, check your serum’s instructions for the recommended temperature). I took small sections of hair and passed the straightener over each one, like, five or six times. This seals the keratin in and makes the hair super smooth.

The Result
I looked at my hair! It felt unbelievably soft and looked so much shinier. Even the frizz that usually drives me crazy was gone. Now, the real test is how long it lasts. They told me not to wash it for couple days. I’ll keep you all updated!
