You know, for the longest time, I felt like I was just spinning my wheels. Had this one idea, this tiny little “seed” of a project I was super passionate about. But man, it just wasn’t growing. It felt like I was watering a rock. Everything else in life was pulling me in different directions, and this poor little seed was just… drying up. I was close to just chucking it in the bin, honestly.

The Struggle Was Real

I’d spend hours staring at my notes, my screen, whatever. Nothing. It was like the well had run dry. I’d see other folks pushing out amazing stuff, and I’d just get more frustrated. It’s a terrible feeling, that creative block. Makes you doubt everything you’re doing. My seed was sick, really sick. I tried all the usual stuff – forcing myself to work on it, taking breaks, reading inspirational nonsense. Nothing clicked. It was just a lump of anxiety at that point.

I remember one evening, after another day of getting absolutely nowhere, I was just tidying up my workspace. Found an old notebook, full of really basic sketches and scribbles from when I first had the idea. Simpler times, you know? And that’s when something sort of shifted. I didn’t have a name for it then, but looking back, that was my “Jahi” moment. It wasn’t some grand revelation, more like a quiet little sigh of relief.

Finding “Jahi” – Or How I Started the Healing

So, what did I do? Well, “Jahi” for me wasn’t some fancy technique I read about. It was more about getting back to the absolute basics, the core of why I even bothered with this seed in the first place. I decided to stop trying to make it perfect, or big, or impressive. I just wanted to see if I could make it not-dead.

Here’s what my “healing process” looked like, more or less:

  • Stripped it all back: I took the project idea and mentally (and physically, on paper) cut away all the complicated bits I’d added over time. All the “features” and “nice-to-haves” that were weighing it down. Back to the absolute core.
  • Tiny, tiny steps: Instead of trying to “work on the project,” I’d pick one ridiculously small thing to do. Like, “today, I’ll just define this one word” or “I’ll just sketch this one tiny icon.” Stuff that took maybe 15-20 minutes. No pressure.
  • Fed it something positive: This sounds a bit woo-woo, but I made sure that whatever little interaction I had with the seed was gentle. No criticism. If an idea popped up, I wrote it down without judging. If I drew something, I just let it be what it was.
  • Disconnected to connect: I spent more time away from the screen with this. Old-fashioned pen and paper. Sometimes I’d just think about it while walking the dog. That was a big one, actually. My dog probably thinks I’m nuts, muttering to myself in the park.

The Seed Started to Sprout

Slowly, and I mean really slowly, things started to change. The pressure I’d been putting on myself eased off because the tasks were so small, so manageable. It stopped feeling like a chore and more like… well, like tending to a little plant. A little bit of water, a little bit of light each day. No big dramatic growth spurts, but the seed wasn’t dying anymore. It was getting a little stronger, a little greener.

The funny thing is, by focusing on these tiny, almost insignificant actions, the bigger picture started to come back into focus, but in a much healthier way. Ideas started flowing again, not because I was forcing them, but because the “soil” was finally right. The project isn’t some massive success story yet, not by a long shot. But it’s alive. It’s growing. And more importantly, I’m enjoying the process again.

So yeah, that’s my little story about how “Jahi” – my personal, quiet way of simplifying and being gentle – helped heal my little seed. Sometimes, I guess, you don’t need a revolutionary new tool or technique. You just need to step back, breathe, and remember why you planted the seed in the first place. Just be kind to your ideas, you know?
