Okay, here’s my blog post about my experience with colored concrete sealant:
So, I’ve been staring at my drab, gray concrete patio for years, thinking it needed something. I finally decided to take the plunge and try out colored concrete sealant. I’d seen some pretty cool results online, and figured, “Why not?”

First things first, I picked out my color. I went with a terracotta shade, hoping to give my patio a warmer, more inviting feel. There were tons of colors to choose from, which was a little overwhelming, but I finally settled on one.
Next, I got to work cleaning the concrete. This was probably the least fun part. I used a pressure washer to blast away all the dirt, grime, and who-knows-what-else that had accumulated over the years. It took a while, and I got soaked, but it was definitely necessary.
- Pressure washing – So important for a good result!
- Make sure it is fully Dry! Don’t be like me do it on a rainy day!
After the concrete was completely dry (I waited a full 24 hours, just to be safe), it was time to apply the sealant. I used a regular paint roller with an extension pole, and it went on pretty smoothly. I made sure to apply a thin, even coat, following the instructions on the sealant container.
The Waiting Game
Now this part can test a person’s patience. I Applied a second coat after the first one was dry to the touch (which took about 4 hours in my case). It’s important and can’t be skipped.
Finally, The hard part, I let it cure completely. The instructions said to wait at least 24-48 hours before walking on it, and 72 hours before placing any furniture. I’m not gonna lie, it was tough to keep everyone off the patio for that long, but I managed!
The end result? I’m pretty happy with it! My patio looks so much better than it did before. The color is vibrant, and the sealant seems to be holding up well. It’s definitely an improvement, and it was a relatively easy DIY project that made a big difference.

So my suggestion, If you’re looking for a way to spruce up your concrete, colored sealant is worth considering!
