Did you hear about the two ducks in a race? A quacking good tale!

Posted on 23/02/202523/02/2025 by InfoInquirer

Okay, so the other day I was messing around with this idea, right? It’s kinda silly, but I was thinking about that phrase, “Did you hear about the two ducks in a race?” And I thought, “Hey, I can actually do something with that!” So I started sketching out some ideas.

Initial Brainstorm

First, I grabbed a piece of paper and a pen – yeah, old school, I know. I just started jotting down anything that came to mind. Ducks, racing, what could that even look like? I ended up with a few stick figure ducks and some scribbled notes about maybe a cartoon or a super simple animation.

Experimenting with Doodles

Next, I doodled some more. I’m no artist, believe me, but I tried to make the ducks look a little different. One was kinda chubby, the other one a bit more streamlined – you know, trying to give them some personality. I even drew a little finish line with a checkered flag. Super basic stuff.

Trying Out Some Animation (Sort Of)

Then, I got this wild idea to try and make them “move.” I used this program I downloaded, which I think it’s called “Blender.” It’s free and easy to download. I drew a few different poses of the ducks, each one with their legs in a slightly different position. Then, I flipped through the drawings really fast, like an old-fashioned flipbook. It was super jerky, but hey, they were “racing”!

  • Drew the first duck.
  • Drew the second duck in a slightly different pose.
  • Repeated this a few times.
  • Flipped through the drawings.

The “Aha!” Moment

It suddenly became clear that even with my rudimentary drawing abilities, I could create a fun little sequence.

Refining the Idea

I spent a bit more time cleaning up the drawings. I added some color – just basic yellow for the ducks, green for the “track,” and a red and white checkered flag. Nothing fancy, but it looked a bit better than just pencil sketches.

Sharing the Result

Finally, I scanned the drawings and put them together in a simple slideshow. I even added a silly little sound effect of ducks quacking. It’s definitely not going to win any awards, but it was a fun little project, and it all started with that goofy phrase about racing ducks! It’s amazing what you can do with a little imagination and some basic tools.
