So, I’ve been trying to figure out this whole sunscreen thing. I mean, I know it’s important to protect your skin from the sun and all that, but every time I put it on, my face turns into an oil slick. It’s so annoying!
I started looking into it, you know, just casually browsing around. Turns out, sunscreens can make your skin oily because of the ingredients. Some are oil-based, and then you add sweat and heat to the mix, and boom – you’ve got a greasy mess. I read that the UV filters are often dissolved in oils. Lucky me, mine usually starts looking oily after, like, three hours. Apparently, for some people, it gets worse as the day goes on because of their natural sebum production.

I even tried a couple of different types. I remember reading somewhere that there are two main kinds: chemical ones that filter UV light, and physical ones that are mineral-based. Honestly, I don’t even know which ones I tried.
I went to the store and picked up a few that were labeled “oil-free” or “for oily skin.” I started with this one, I think it was called “La Roche-Posay Anthelios Clear Skin” or something. The first day, I applied it in the morning, and it felt okay at first. It was pretty lightweight and absorbed quickly, so I was hopeful. But sure enough, by lunchtime, my forehead was shining like a disco ball.
Next, I tried another one. It was called Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel Lotion with SPF 30. It felt a bit like a moisturizer, which was nice. I put it on, went about my day, and… same story. Oil city.
- Day 1: Applied La Roche-Posay sunscreen in the morning. Felt lightweight and good initially.
- Day 1 (Lunchtime): Noticed significant oiliness, especially on my forehead.
- Day 2: Switched to Neutrogena sunscreen. The texture was more like a moisturizer.
- Day 2 (Afternoon): Experienced similar oiliness as with the first sunscreen.
- Day 3: I just give up this one and choose not to use sunscreen.
- Day 4: I just try another new one, and it is worked! This new one is creamy texture.
I’m starting to think maybe it’s just me. Maybe my skin is just naturally super oily.
My Conclusion
I’m still not giving up, though. After days, I tried a new one, and it is worked! It is a creamy texture, I love it! Maybe I just need to keep experimenting until I find the right one. Or maybe I should just embrace the shine? I don’t know. It’s a work in progress, I guess. But hey, at least I’m trying, right?
