Okay, so, today I messed around with “Lethal Company,” specifically trying to figure out how the respawn thing works. It’s not super obvious at first, so I figured I’d share what I learned after a bunch of, well, dying.
Getting Started and Dying… A Lot
First things first, I jumped into a game. Didn’t really know what I was doing, just ran around with some buddies. We scavenged, got chased by those creepy monsters, and, yeah, I died. Like, a lot. That’s kinda the point, I guess, to learn by failing. Or, in this case, getting eaten.

Figuring Out the Respawn Mechanic
After dying a few times, I started paying attention to what happened after I kicked the bucket. Turns out, your team can actually bring you back. But it’s not automatic, and there are some catches.
- Your Body Matters: When you die, your body stays put. Think of it as a, uh, beacon of hope? Your teammates need to find your corpse to even have a chance of reviving you.
- The Ship’s the Key: Okay, so finding the body is step one. Step two? Drag that sucker back to the ship. Yeah, you literally have to carry your dead weight (or your friend’s) back to the starting point.
- Penalty Time: Found the body, dragged it back, and…you’re still dead? Yup. There is a cost of reviving. It reduces the total scrap value that you and your team have collected during your playthough.
The Result (Finally Respawning!)
So, after all that body-hauling and team coordination, you finally respawn. You’re back in the game, ready to…probably die again. But hey, at least you’re back, right? It’s definitely a team effort kind of thing. You can’t just rely on magically popping back to life. You need your buddies to have your back (and drag your corpse).
That’s pretty much the gist of it. It’s a cool mechanic, makes you really think twice before running headfirst into danger, and forces you to work together. Good times (and many deaths) were had!
