Okay, so, I’ve always been a car guy, and the Toyota Supra, especially the new GR Supra, has been on my mind lately. I mean, that thing is a beast! So I thought, why not put it to the test and see just how fast this thing can really go? I decided to make a day of it and document the whole thing.
First things first, I needed a Supra. Luckily, I managed to borrow a stock 2020 GR Supra from a buddy who’s as much of a car nut as I am. This model comes with a 3.0-liter inline-six engine. It’s a beauty, I tell ya!
Next up, the track. I booked some time at a local track that has a nice long straightaway, perfect for testing top speeds. Safety first, of course. I made sure I had all the right gear – helmet, gloves, the works. I also double-checked the Supra’s tire pressure and made sure it was in tip-top shape.
The moment of truth. I lined up the Supra at the starting line, took a deep breath, and when the light turned green, I floored it. The acceleration was incredible! The engine roared, and the Supra shot forward like a rocket. I gripped the wheel tight, keeping her steady as the speedometer climbed higher and higher.
- Run 1: The first run was all about getting a feel for the car. I hit the quarter-mile mark in about 12.72 seconds, clocking in at around 109.48 mph. Not bad for a first try, but I knew we could do better.
- Run 2: I pushed it a bit harder this time. I managed to shave a bit off the time, but the real thrill was feeling that raw power as I pushed the car to its limit.
- Run 3: This was it, the final run. I was determined to see what this baby could really do. I focused all my energy on a perfect start and keeping the car as stable as possible. It felt like flying, honestly.
After a few runs, I started thinking about what it would be like to really soup this thing up. I mean, I read somewhere that someone got a modified GR Supra to do a quarter-mile in under 8 seconds at over 170 mph! That’s insane! It got me dreaming about turbos and all sorts of tweaks. Maybe a project for another day.
All in all, it was an awesome day. I got to push a fantastic car to its limits and had a blast doing it. The Supra is a seriously impressive machine, and it definitely lived up to the hype. Plus, I’ve got some great footage to remember the day by. Can’t wait to see what other adventures await!
