Okay, so today I’m gonna yap about this tiara cameo thing I messed around with. Buckle up, it’s kinda random but might be fun!
First off, I got this idea outta nowhere. I was scrolling through something, I think it was a blog, and saw some crazy cool tiara. I thought, “Hey, I wanna try making something like that, but, you know, DIY style”.
So, I started by raiding my craft box. Found some thick wire – the kind you use for jewelry making. I bent it into a basic tiara shape. It looked super wonky at first, all crooked and stuff. I had to keep reshaping it until it looked somewhat symmetrical. Think I used a soup can as a mold at one point, haha!
Next up, the cameo part. I didn’t actually have a real cameo, those things are kinda expensive. Instead, I found some polymer clay. Rolled it out flat-ish, then used a cookie cutter – a fancy oval one – to make the shape. After that, I just started sculpting a face onto it. Let me tell you, sculpting is HARD. My first attempt looked like a melted potato. I watched a couple of YouTube videos on how to sculpt faces and tried again. It still wasn’t perfect, but hey, it was better!
Once the clay face was done (sort of), I baked it in the oven. Followed the instructions on the clay package. Then, I painted the cameo with acrylic paints. Used some antique gold for the background and a pale cream color for the face. I tried to make it look old-timey, like it had been passed down through generations. I also glued some small pearls around the cameo to make it look more fancy.
After the cameo was dry, I attached it to the wire tiara. I used some strong glue and then wrapped more wire around it to make sure it wouldn’t fall off. I also added some other beads and sparkly bits to the tiara. Just whatever I had lying around.
The final tiara was… well, let’s just say it wasn’t fit for royalty. It was a little lopsided, and the cameo face was kinda creepy. But you know what? I made it! And it was kinda fun. I even wore it around the house for a bit, just for laughs.
Lessons learned? Sculpting is hard, wire is annoying to work with, and I need more sparkly beads. But overall, it was a cool project. Maybe I’ll try it again sometime and make a better one. Or maybe I’ll just buy a tiara. Hehe!

- Plan your design before you start bending wire.
- Don’t be afraid to scrap your first attempt at sculpting.
- Invest in good glue. Seriously.
