Okay, so I’ve been on this Hawaiian music kick lately, and “Ke Alaula” kept popping up on my playlists. The melody is just so beautiful and calming, I became obsessed to figure out what it’s all about.
First, I played the song like a million times. You know, just to really get it stuck in my head. It has this vibe that totally transports you to a beach at sunset. I could almost feel the sand between my toes!

Next, obviously,I want to know the lyrics. I searched it on the web .But I’m pretty sure “Ke Alaula” translates to something like “The Rosy Path” or “The Early Dawn,” which already sounds poetic, right?
Finding the Words
- I googled “Ke Alaula lyrics” and a bunch of sites popped up. Some had the Hawaiian words, some had translations, and some had both. Score!
- I copied the Hawaiian lyrics from one site and the English translation from another. Because I’m very paitient, I don’t trust automatic translators!
It was a little tricky because the formatting on some sites was wonky. I had to do some serious copy-pasting and cleaning up to get everything lined up nicely.
Putting It All Together
Once I had the lyrics and the translation, I wanted to understand the meaning behind the words. What does this song mean?
So, yeah, that was my little “Ke Alaula” adventure. Now,I can understand this * really helped me appreciate the song even more.!
