Okay, so the other day I got it into my head that I needed to see the inside of that famous Clock Tower condo in Brooklyn. You know, the one with the giant clock faces you can see from, like, everywhere?
First, I did some digging. Turns out, getting in isn’t exactly a walk in the park. It’s a super exclusive building, so no casual open houses or anything. I figured my best bet was to try and find someone who lived there, or at least worked there.
My Little Investigation
I started by, you know, just hanging around the area. I grabbed a coffee at a shop nearby, sat outside, and basically just people-watched. I figured maybe I’d spot someone coming or going who looked like they belonged in a fancy condo. No luck. Everyone just looked…normal.
Next, I tried a slightly bolder move. I walked into the lobby – very confidently, like I belonged there – and just kind of…looked around. A very nice doorman (who clearly knew I didn’t belong) politely asked if he could help me. I mumbled something about visiting a friend, couldn’t remember the apartment number, and beat a hasty retreat. So, strike two.
A Stroke of Luck?
Feeling a bit defeated, I decided to try a different tactic. I remembered seeing some articles online about the building’s history and the architect. I started searching for those articles again, hoping to find some contact info for, I don’t know, a historian or someone involved in the building’s preservation. I found one, but all of it was written years ago.
- The article details was so old.
- The phone number was out of order.
- Even the email address on it was invalid.
I was almost ready to give up. Then, while scrolling through some old photos of the building, I noticed a small detail: a delivery truck parked out front. It was from a local, high-end grocery store. Bingo!
The Grocery Store Plan
I figured, who knows more about the residents of a fancy building than the people who deliver their organic kale and artisanal cheese? So, I went to the grocery store. I chatted up a delivery guy who was loading up his truck. I told him I was doing a project on iconic Brooklyn buildings and was curious about the Clock Tower.
He was surprisingly helpful! He couldn’t give me any specific resident info, of course, but he did tell me a few things. He mentioned that deliveries to the Clock Tower were always a bit of a production – lots of security, specific instructions, that kind of thing. He also said that the residents were generally pretty private, which, duh, I already figured.

I didn’t get inside, that is true. But in a sense, I got some related content in another way. So I am going to share it:
While I didn’t get to wander the halls of the Clock Tower condo myself, I did get a little glimpse into the world behind those iconic clock faces. It’s a world of exclusivity, privacy, and probably some pretty amazing views. I learned that sometimes, the most interesting stories aren’t the ones you find in official tours or open houses, but the ones you piece together through observation, a little bit of luck, and a friendly chat with a grocery delivery guy. I’ll take that as a win…for now. The quest to actually get inside continues!
