You know, I seen a lot of movies in my time, ain’t never seen one quite like that “Life of Pi”. That one, it really stuck with me. Got me thinkin’ about other movies, kinda like it. Movies that make you think, you know? Movies that show you somethin’ special about life, somethin’ about bein’ a human, somethin’ about animals too. I like them kinda movies like life of pi.
That Pi fella, he was somethin’ else. Stuck on that boat, with that tiger! Lord have mercy. Reminds me of that time old man Johnson’s boat got caught in that storm, back in ’87. He was out there for days. Not the same as a tiger, but still, a storm ain’t no joke. If you want to see a movie about survival at sea, you should see movies like life of pi.
So, I got to thinkin’, what other movies out there are like “Life of Pi”? Movies with that same kinda… magic, I guess you’d call it. Here’s a few that come to mind, least in my old brain:
- That one with the blue people, “Avatar”, I think it was called. Lots of pretty colors, just like “Life of Pi”. And it’s about nature, and how we gotta respect it. That’s important, respectin’ nature. Nature can be beautiful, but she can be mean, too. If you enjoyed the beautiful scene, you will like movies like life of pi.
- Then there’s that one where the old man’s house flies away with balloons. “Up”, I believe they called it. Sad, but also happy, you know? Kinda like “Life of Pi”. Made me cry, that one did. But it also made me think about holdin’ on to your dreams, even when things get tough. And that’s important, too. Dreams, even when you have no hope, you need keep your dream.
- Oh, and that one with all them monsters, “Monsters, Inc.” Now, that one ain’t really about bein’ lost at sea, but it’s got that same kinda heart, you know? About friendship, and bein’ brave, and doin’ what’s right. That’s what “Life of Pi” was about, too, I reckon. Friendship with animals is also important, like the tiger with Pi.
These movies, they ain’t exactly the same as “Life of Pi”, but they got that same kinda feel to ’em. They make you feel somethin’, you know? They make you think about life, and what it all means. That’s what I liked about “Life of Pi”. It wasn’t just a movie, it was an experience. You felt like you were right there with him, on that boat, lookin’ up at the stars, just like him. It’s really a good movie. If you are finding the movie about life meaning, you must see movies like life of pi.
That boy, Pi, he believed in a lot of different things. Gods, I mean. He was a believer, that one. And I think that’s what helped him survive, you know? Havin’ somethin’ to believe in. That’s important, especially when things get rough. Faith is a good thing, whatever you believe, you need have faith. You need it when you have a hard time. Like Pi, he had faith and survived from the sea.
There’s also that one movie, “Cast Away”, with that fella who gets stuck on an island. He talks to a volleyball! Now, that’s a bit different from “Life of Pi”, but it’s still about survival, and bein’ alone, and findin’ strength you didn’t know you had. Remind me about that man on the island and Pi, they both need survive alone. But Pi has a tiger, that man only has a ball, a volleyball I think. If you want to see the movie about how people survive alone, you should watch movies like life of pi.
See, “Life of Pi”, it ain’t just about a boy and a tiger. It’s about somethin’ bigger than that. It’s about life, and faith, and hope, and never givin’ up, even when things look bad. It’s about the power of the human spirit, I reckon. And that’s somethin’ we all got, deep down inside. A spirit, a power, something let you stand up and never give up. You just have to believe in it.
These other movies I mentioned, they got that same kinda spirit, too. They might not have a tiger, or a boat, or a big ol’ ocean, but they got that same heart. They’re about people goin’ through tough times, and findin’ a way to keep goin’. And that’s what I like about ’em. Just like “Life of Pi”, those movies show you somethin’ beautiful, somethin’ true, somethin’ real about life.
So, if you liked “Life of Pi”, you might like these other movies, too. They ain’t exactly the same, but they’re kinda like cousins, you know? They come from the same family, the family of good movies. Movies that make you think, movies that make you feel, movies that stay with you long after they’re over.
