Okay, so I’ve been meaning to check out this place, Mangiamo Restaurant in Lake Ronkonkoma, for a while now. Everyone’s been saying it’s the real deal for Italian food, so I finally decided to give it a shot.
Getting Started
First things first, I tried to get a feel for the place online. Looked at some pictures, and read some reviews, get an idea of price and quality, to see if I should go.
Making the Reservation
I wanted to make sure I am able to get a seat, so I called and reserved.
The reservation part was easy. A quick call, and they got me a table for two at 7 PM. Pretty standard stuff.
The Experience
We got there a bit early, and the place was already buzzing. Good sign, I thought. The atmosphere was, you know, classic Italian restaurant vibes – cozy, warm lighting, the smell of garlic and tomato sauce in the air. We were seated pretty quickly, which was nice.
I went straight to checking out the menu. It’s packed. Pastas, pizzas, seafood, meat dishes… you name it. It took me a good 10 minutes just to decide what I wanted. It all looked so good!
- Appetizer: We started with the fried calamari. Crispy, not too greasy, and the marinara sauce was on point.
- Main Course: I got the lasagna – had to test out their classic, right? My friend went for the chicken parmigiana.
The lasagna, I had to test out their classic. Huge portion, cheesy, meaty, and the pasta was cooked just right – not mushy at all. My company enjoyed the chicken, too. Said the sauce was tangy and the chicken was tender.
We also ordered their dessert, the server recommended their tiramisu, and I couldn’t say no.
Honestly, I was stuffed by the end. We ended up taking some leftovers home.
Final Thoughts
Overall, I’d say Mangiamo lived up to the hype. It’s not the cheapest place, but the food quality and the portion sizes make it worth it. I’m definitely going back – gotta try their pizza next time!
It’s a solid spot for a nice Italian dinner. Thumbs up from me!
