Alright, so I’ve been wanting to make a Motörhead hoodie for a while now. I’m a huge fan, and I figured, why not try to make my own customized one? So, I started by gathering my materials.
Getting Started
- A plain black hoodie: I got one from a local store, nothing fancy, just a basic, comfortable one.
- Fabric paint: White, of course, for that classic Motörhead logo look.
- Brushes: A couple of different sizes, one for the bigger parts and a finer one for details.
- Cardboard: To put inside the hoodie so the paint wouldn’t bleed through.
- Pencil: For sketching, and Chalk, too to help see my lines better.
- A printout of the Motörhead logo: My trusty guide.
The Process
First, I washed and dried the hoodie. Gotta start with a clean slate, you know? Then, I slipped the cardboard inside, making sure it was smooth under the front where the logo would go. This was super important to prevent a mess.

Next, I took my printout and placed it where I wanted the logo to be. I lightly traced the outline with chalk. You could use a pencil, but the chalk shows up better on black fabric, and can brush off pretty easy when I’m done.
Now for the fun part – painting! I carefully started filling in the Warpig logo with the white fabric paint. I did a thin first coat, let it dry, and then added another coat. And i did this a few times. Gotta make sure it’s solid and stands out, and it will last longer with more coats.
Then I added the “Motörhead” text underneath, taking my time to make it look as neat as possible. Same deal – multiple thin coats, patience with dry time in between. I was pretty meticulous, going slow.
Finishing Up
After the paint was completely dry (I waited a good 24 hours to be sure), I carefully removed the cardboard. Then, to set the paint, I followed the instructions on the fabric paint bottle – which for me, meant turning the hoodie inside out and ironing it for a few minutes on a low setting, I put a piece of cloth in between.
And that’s it! My very own, handmade Motörhead hoodie. It’s not perfect, but it’s mine, and I’m pretty stoked with how it turned out. It’s got that DIY, punk rock vibe, which is perfect for a Motörhead fan, I think.
