Want the Best Pasta? Head to DeAngelos Restaurant Schenectady, Everyones Talking About It!

Hey everyone, so today I’m gonna talk about this place called Deangelo’s Ristorante in Schenectady. I’d heard some buzz about it, mostly from folks talking about good Italian spots in town. It sounded like a real family-owned kind of deal, and I’m always up for supporting those.

First off, finding the place was a bit of a journey. It’s not right downtown, more like tucked away in a neighborhood. The address is 1510 Chrisler Ave, which I punched into my phone. I drove over there, and the area’s pretty quiet, residential mostly.

I checked their hours online before going – they’re closed Mondays, which is good to know. Tuesday through Thursday they open at 4:00 PM, the rest at 9:00 PM on Wednesday and Thursday, and I think even later on weekends. I aimed for a Wednesday evening, figuring it wouldn’t be too packed.

Parking wasn’t a hassle. They’ve got a decent-sized lot. When I walked in, the vibe was immediately cozy. You know, dim lighting, that classic Italian restaurant smell of garlic and simmering sauce. There were not too many photos on the walls, the decoration is not so fancy. A few families were already eating, and it wasn’t loud or anything.

I grabbed a menu. Lots of the usual suspects – pasta, chicken dishes, some seafood. They also had some specials listed on a board. Prices seemed reasonable, most entrees were in the average range.

Here’s what I ended up ordering:

  • Started with the fried calamari. It was pretty standard, nothing to write home about, but a decent portion.
  • For the main course, I went with the chicken parmigiana. It came with a side of pasta, I chose spaghetti with marinara sauce. The chicken was a good size, tender, and the sauce was flavorful. Not too heavy, which I appreciated.
  • I also got a glass of their house red wine. It wasn’t anything fancy, but it paired well with the meal.

The service was friendly and attentive. My water glass was never empty, and the food came out at a good pace. I didn’t feel rushed at all.

Overall, I’d say Deangelo’s is a solid choice if you’re looking for a casual Italian meal in Schenectady. It’s not going to blow your mind, but it’s a good, honest, family-run place with tasty food and fair prices. I’d definitely go back, maybe try their pizza next time – I saw a few go by, and they looked pretty good.

So, yeah, that’s my take on Deangelo’s Ristorante. If you’re in the area and craving some Italian comfort food, give it a shot. You might just become a regular!
