My water thingy, you know, the one that makes water hot, it’s leaking. I don’t know why, it just started. Water all over the floor, what a mess! My old man, he’s no help. Says he doesn’t know what’s wrong. Probably needs someone to take a look, fix it up.
This thing, the water heater, it’s got pipes, a big round thing. The pipes, they connect to the wall, water comes in, water comes out hot. Now, water’s coming out where it shouldn’t. Dripping, dripping all the time. I put a bucket, but it fills up fast.

- Maybe something broke inside?
- Who knows? Not me, that’s for sure.
I heard there’s a thingy, a valve, they call it. It’s supposed to let water out if there’s too much pressure. Maybe that’s it. Or maybe it’s the tank, the big round thing. It gets old, you know, things rust, they break. Water eats away at things, makes them weak.
This water heater, it’s important. We need hot water. To wash dishes, take a bath. Can’t live without hot water. Makes life easier. But now, this leak. It’s a problem. Gotta fix it soon.
I looked around, tried to see where the water’s coming from. It’s hard to tell. Everything’s wet. Pipes, the round thing, the floor. Could be anywhere. Maybe from the bottom, maybe from the top. Makes me worry. What if it’s something big, something bad?
My neighbor, she said her water heater leaked once. It was a little pipe, she said. The man came, he fixed it. Said it was loose. Maybe mine is the same? Just loose? I hope so. Don’t want to buy a new one. They cost money, a lot of money.
I checked the gas, you know, the thing that makes it hot. It’s on. So it’s not that. The water’s still leaking. Drip, drip, drip. Annoying sound. Keeps me up at night. Worrying about the water, about the floor getting ruined.
I tried to tighten things, the pipes, the connections. But I’m not strong enough. My hands, they’re old, they don’t work like they used to. Maybe if my old man was here, he could do it. But he’s gone, playing cards with his friends. Doesn’t care about the leak.
I wish I knew more about these things. About water heaters, about pipes. But I don’t. I just know how to turn it on and off. And now, it’s leaking. Making my life hard. I need someone to help me. Someone who knows about these things. To fix the leak, stop the dripping. So I can have hot water again, without the mess, without the worry.
I hope it’s not too expensive to fix. We don’t have much money. Just enough to get by. A new water heater, that would be bad. We can’t afford it. Just a small fix, that’s all I need. Something simple. Please, let it be simple.
