They even had a fancy internal name for it, but we all just called it the ‘bulldozer project’ behind their backs. Because that’s exactly how they went about it.
So, they decided to just ram through it. No pilot program, no phased rollout, nothing like that. Just pick a date, flip a switch, and boom – new system live. They brought in these external consultants, the kind that cost a fortune and talk a really good game. They showed us all these fancy charts and promised a ‘seamless transition.’ We, the folks who actually had to work with the old system daily, we had our doubts. Big doubts.
I remember sitting in those planning meetings. We’d raise concerns, point out potential problems, you know, the stuff you learn from actually doing the work. But it felt like talking to a brick wall. The decision was made. The bulldozer was already rolling. They just wanted to tick boxes and hit that go-live date.

So yeah, it bulldozed the old system alright, but it also bulldozed a lot of morale, money, and customer trust in the process.
