Okay, here is my sharing about my trip to the Golden Temple at night.
So, I finally made it to the Golden Temple in Amritsar. I’d heard so much about this place, and let me tell you, it’s even more breathtaking in person. I decided to go at night because I’d seen some pictures online, and it looked absolutely magical all lit up.

First off, getting there was a bit of a hassle. The streets were packed, it is a busy place. But once I got close, you could start to see the glow of the temple in the distance. It was like a beacon in the night. I parked my car a little ways out and walked the rest of the way.
As I got closer, the sheer size of the temple started to hit me. It’s huge! And the way it’s reflected in the water around it, it’s just unreal. I took off my shoes, which is customary, and made my way inside.
The atmosphere inside was electric. There were so many people, all there for different reasons, but there was this shared sense of peace and reverence. I just kind of went with the flow of the crowd, moving slowly around the temple.
- I walked around the edge of the pool, taking in the sights and sounds.
- I saw people praying, singing, and just sitting in quiet contemplation.
- I even dipped my hands in the holy water, which was a pretty cool experience.
I spent a good couple of hours there, just soaking it all in. Honestly, I could have stayed there all night. It’s one of those places that just captivates you. The gold, shimmering under the lights, the reflections in the water, the chanting, the whole vibe… it’s something I’ll never forget. Even if you only visit once, go at night. It’s something else.
If you’re ever in Amritsar, you absolutely have to visit the Golden Temple at night. It’s an experience that will stay with you forever. Trust me, you won’t regret it.
